Sudan’s junta has signalled willingness to engage with international mediators as the devastating conflict nears its 1,000th day, leaving millions trapped in one of the world’s fastest-growing humanitarian disasters.
In a statement issued in Port Sudan, the Transitional Sovereignty Council as the junta is known welcomed mediation efforts led by Saudi Arabia and the US, describing them as essential to securing a “fair and just peace” for the country.
