Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote has unveiled plans to invest up to $50 billion across Africa by 2030, signalling an expansion of his group’s industrial footprint in mining, manufacturing, ports, and energy as he called for greater African ownership of the continent’s resources.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the $16 billion Dangote East Africa Refinery in Lamu on Wednesday, Mr Dangote said the new investment plan would support Africa’s shift from exporting raw materials to processing them locally and exporting finished products.
