Kenya has mounted its strongest bid yet to reclaim Rwanda’s petroleum transit business from Tanzania, with Kigali returning to the Port of Mombasa after more than a decade of largely favouring the Central Corridor through Dar es Salaam.
The return was marked by the arrival of a 40,000-tonne maiden cargo in Mombasa on Tuesday, signalling a significant shift in the movement of refined petroleum products to the landlocked Great Lakes economy.
