The unpaid debt of brain drain

A few weeks ago, I sat with two registered nurses who had trained in public institutions in Africa and now work in hospitals in the United States and Europe.

Their lives have shifted in ways they could once only imagine. Paycheques arrive on time, enough not only to cover bills but also to set something aside. The security that once felt unreachable has become ordinary.
