This week, Sudan’s Port Sudan - until now the last major city untouched by civil war - was rocked by drone strikes from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

They struck the airport, torched the nation’s main fuel depot, and rattled the army base that houses the headquarters of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan’s government. Once a refuge for the displaced, Port Sudan is now squarely on the war map.
