A bruising battle between veteran politicians and seasoned civil servants has erupted in Tanzania as the ruling Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) prepares to tighten its stranglehold on domestic politics.
The General Election is due in October but, this week, the much-anticipated nominations to the next parliamentary caucus formally began, seeing senior civil servants with political ambitions replaced to release them to contest seats.
