South Sudan confronts militia problem, could create another

South Sudan has issued a directive to political parties to disarm, signalling an attempt to eliminate the rival militias that have complicated the country’s path to long-term peace.
Dr Benjamin Bol Mel, South Sudan's Vice President for the Economic Cluster, issued the directive and said that Juba was introducing a new dimension to the country's ongoing political tensions.
