AU Infrastructure and Energy
The African landscape is changing driven by substantial investments in key infrastructural projects, improved access to electricity through renewable and energy projects. This film examines the work of the African Union in the implementation of Aspiration 2 of Africa’s Agenda 2063, which aims at the development of world class infrastructure that criss-crosses Africa and improves connectivity through modern high impact initiatives that link the continent by rail, road, sea and air; developing regional and continental energy power pools, as well as advancing Information and Communication Technology.
Africa must ensure that women are well represented in all dimensions of infrastructure development and the energy sector for an inclusive and sustainable growth on the continent. Infrastructure creates jobs and therefore the share of women in the sectors must be well thought, to support the continent in its vision for gender equality and women’s empowerment by exploring opportunities and gender mainstreaming the role of women in all productive sectors.
