President Kiir wins Machar allies over, consolidates grip on power

A month since he fled Juba, little has been heard from Dr Riek Machar, save for a brief interview with Al Jazeera TV. He is believed to be hiding in Yei, south of Juba.
Meanwhile, President Salva Kiir has been consolidating his grip on power, reaching out to members of the South Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO).
