The auditor general of the Congolese military, Lieutenant General Lucien-René Likulia Bakumi, has written to the Senate asking it to lift the immunity of former president Joseph Kabila so that he can be prosecuted for his alleged role in the rebellion in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
The former head of State became a senator for life when he stepped down as president in January 2019.
