Tanzania will spend millions of dollars to host the world’s oldest beauty pageant, Miss World, in 2027. Early this week, Tanzania made history by securing the rights to host the 74th edition of the pageant, becoming only the second nation in Africa, after South Africa, to stage the global event.
The agreement was signed on Monday between Tanzania's Culture, Arts and Sports Minister Paul Makonda and representatives of the Miss World, including Julia Morley, the chairperson of the pageant. Morley took over the reins of the pageant in 2000 following the death of the competition's founder, her late husband Eric Morley.
