Rwanda has just won the bid to host Formula One (F1), with an early date pencilled in for 2030, though it will more likely be later. It will run as the African Grand Prix on a 10-year deal.
F1, the race that non-fans dismiss as little cars whizzing round and round like mosquitoes, last came to Africa in 1993, at the Kyalami circuit in South Africa. Few other sports match its glamour.
