Pressure mounts on South Africa govt over free higher education pledge

President Zuma made a surprise announcement that students from poor households would benefit from an expanded national students financial aid scheme to be implemented in 2018. He however did not give any details.
EFF firebrand leader Julius Malema called on all students who had qualified to turn up for registration as 2018 was “the year of free education”.
