Former Uganda Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi has declared interest in running for the presidency in the 2016 General Election.

Mr Mbabazi finally opened up, stating: "You’ll be making a choice for your families, your children, and the generations to come. A new age is upon us, and upon this, our focus must rest. Yesterday is gone, and today’s challenges must have newer, better answers. Uganda can work, together let us make it work."

He was the Prime Minister from 24 May 24, 2011 to September 19, 2014.

Prior to that position, Mr Mbabazi served as the minister for Security from February 2009 to May 2011.
