US unquestioned dominance is ending. So, what is Africa’s strategy?

Africa is now central to the conversation. It now sits at the centre of global strategy, where major powers compete for access, resources, and long-term influence. This is not passing interest; it is a calculated push for strategic footholds.

A global transformation is quietly but decisively evolving and uncertain. American dominance is no longer what it was. The post-Cold War order that emerged after the Soviet Union’s collapse, grounded in American leadership and the promise of a stable, rules-based international system, is no longer viable.

What once seemed like a fixed structure is now under pressure, challenged both from within and by the rise of alternative centres of power. Alliances are more transactional than principled. Institutions are under strain. And the idea that there is a single centre of gravity in world affairs no longer holds. This is the world we are now entering, less stable, less certain, and far more competitive.
