As Uganda inches closer to the 2026 general election, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has already offered the country a foreboding of what lies ahead.

Ordinarily, a routine exercise to choose flag bearers, the ongoing NRM internal elections have been anything but routine. From Isingiro to Sembabule, Jinja to Busia, scenes of violence erupted with disturbing frequency.
