Kenyan security agencies have escalated their crackdown on individuals alleged to have incited violence during the July 7 protests, with the arrest on Thursday of a Member of Parliament allied to the impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Jayne Kihara, who represents Naivasha Constituency in the National Assembly, was picked up from her home by officers from the country’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in the afternoon and detained overnight at a local police station.
