Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are scheduled to sign a peace agreement mediated by the US and observed by Qatar, which, among other things, binds them to respect each other’s territorial integrity, refrain from hostilities and disengage from fighting.

Negotiating teams from both nations on Wednesday initialled the text of a prospective peace deal, signalling successes of the US-led mediation to end perennial tensions between the duo.
