Short-term staff from the East African Community (EAC) Secretariat, whose contracts were abruptly terminated, have petitioned the bloc’s Secretary General, Veronica Nduva, seeking reinstatement.

In a letter dated October 8 and copied to the Council of Ministers, the 46 affected employees—through their lawyers Vanessa Ayubu Nyanga of Ideal Chambers Advocates and Kefa Teter Elias of Vista Attorney—ask that their contracts be extended pending a formal decision by the Council.
