The East Africa Law Society (EALS) has moved the venue for its 2025 annual conference and general meeting from Zanzibar to the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, citing security concerns in Tanzania ahead of its general election in October.
In a communiqué on Monday, EALS president Ramadhan Abubakar said that they had been compelled to change the venue “in the absence of firm guarantees to delegates who will be attending the event.”
