Allies of former Congolese President Joseph Kabila may face a bleak festive season in Kinshasa after authorities began arresting some of his key associates in the latest display of political animosity.
On Tuesday morning, armed men arrested Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary, permanent secretary of the People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD), at his home. His family said the officers offered no explanation for the arrest or disclosed where he was being taken.
