Tanzania polls: CCM extends primaries schedule as crowd of contenders jostle for slots
Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Chair and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan launches the 2025–2030 CCM election manifesto at the Party’s Special General Meeting at Jakaya Kikwete Conference Centre in Dodoma, Tanzania on May 30, 2025.
Tanzania’s ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party has extended, by two weeks, its vetting of candidates looking to contest parliamentary seats, citing record numbers of aspirants jostling for slots.
The official list of candidates approved to run on CCM ticket at the October General Election was expected by the end of this week after all the aspirants were officially registered. That process which stretched from June 28 to July 2 will now be extended to July 19 after the party issued a revised timetable.
