South Sudan’s 2018 peace deal is on the verge of collapse, monitors have warned, citing unilateral actions by President Salva Kiir’s side.
Although the peace deal, mediated by regional bloc Intergovernmental Authority on Development, was signed by Kiir, his arch-rival Riek Machar and several other armed groups, the president’s moves, including firing ministers from clustered ministries, have raised worry.
