Tanzania has embarked on its first ever effort to protect and breed white rhinos on its soil, after receiving 18 from the South African government this week.
The translocation marks the beginning of a wider plan to introduce a total of 36 white rhinos into the Ngorongoro Crater, a Unesco-recognised geopark renowned for its rich biodiversity and ecological significance in the East African region.
