Why East Africa’s roads are killing thousands

Road accidents in East Africa have reached alarming levels, raising serious human rights concerns for local communities. Experts now argue that preventing these deaths must go hand in hand with efforts to reduce inequality across the region.

The findings are contained in a report by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), Accidental Deaths and Life-Changing Injuries: A Global Tragedy. It documents fatalities from road crashes, workplace accidents, fires, drowning and other incidents.
