The recent spike in burglary, allegedly spurred by the growing unemployment in the country has created public safety worries.

The increase, mostly in Kigali’s lower-end residential neighbourhoods, has left residents calling for tougher security measures while questioning the work of the crime-fighting initiatives as well as the value for the monthly payment for the security patrols.
