There’s a quiet fatigue that comes from hearing your own story recounted for you, and told wrongly.
Last week, The EastAfrican published a guest essay by Abdisaid Ali, Somalia’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in which he declared, with an almost priestly finality, that Somaliland would never be recognised and that Somalia must therefore govern it. It was written with confidence. However, as history often teaches us, confidence is not the same as correctness.
