On October 29, 1929, something spectacular happened in the United States and in most capitalist economies of the world. The bubble burst. The end of what was to be known as the “roaring twenties” came to an end all of a sudden.
What had seemed an age of unlimited economic expansion and societal advancement, where people made tonnes of money and spent it without a care in the world, came crashing down without a warning.
