The passing of Raila Amolo Odinga is the conclusion of the life of a man whose status could be described in the words used by Shakespeare’s Caius Cassius in Julius Caesar: “Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world like a Colossus, and we petty men walk under his huge legs and peep about to find ourselves dishonourable graves. Men at some time are masters of their fates…”
The main conspirator in that tragic story of the undoing of the great Caesar, at the time head of the Roman empire, is characteristic of the attitude of politicians of all ages vying for positions and power and plotting to overthrow whomsoever seems to be accumulating immense power at the expense of his colleagues.
