French deputies in the National Assembly voted in favour of a no-confidence motion on Wednesday evening, forcing the resignation of French Prime Minister Michel Barnier and the collapse of his government.

A total of 331 deputies, mostly from the left-wing parties’ alliance – the New Popular Front (NFP) and the far-right party – National Rally (RN) voted in favour, well over the 289 votes needed to pass the vote of no confidence.
