A doctorate, or PhD, is the highest academic qualification you can obtain in Ghana after meeting specific scholarly requirements and undertaking rigorous research.
Ghanaian authorities have banned the use of honorary degrees and titles, putting an end to the widespread adoption of superlatives, particularly among public servants, in the West African country.
Officials say this is intended to prevent dishonest individuals without academic qualifications from deceiving the public.
