Barrister Akere Muna, a former president of the Cameroon Bar Association and Pan-African Lawyers Union and a candidate in this year's presidential election October 12, is up against incumbent President Paul Biya. However, his chances of winning are slim.
Nevertheless, he has put up a spirited fight, this time choosing the legal route. On Tuesday, he petitioned the Constitutional Council, the country’s highest judicial body responsible for electoral matters, to invalidate Biya’s candidacy. He argues that Biya no longer meets the legal requirements for someone who wants to be president of the country.
