The Troika – US, Britain and Norway – alongside the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), have warned of a deepening humanitarian crisis in South Sudan’s Jonglei region, even as the African Union (AU) takes over mediation of the Nairobi peace talks.

The ICRC reports a severe crisis driven by escalating conflict, intercommunal violence and devastating floods, with weapon-wounded patients reaching record highs.
