Tanzania’s Parliament on Friday unanimously endorsed Deogratius Ndejembi as the country’s new vice-president, clearing the first major constitutional hurdle in a swift political transition triggered by the abrupt departure of Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi.
All 324 lawmakers who took part in the vote backed Mr Ndejembi, with no votes cast against his nomination and no spoilt ballots recorded.
