Sporadic violence continued in parts of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo this week, days after parties to the conflict signed on a framework to seek long-term peace.
The M23 rebel group and representatives of the government of the DRC had, last week on Saturday, signed the Declaration of Principles, in Doha Qatar, after which they gave themselves a month to discuss and agree on a long-term peace deal. Yet the clashes and variance in explanations by officials signalled the mistrust.
