Somalia’s President Mohamud checkmates opposition group – for now

In a video that was widely circulated on social media on Tuesday, former Somalia prime minister Hassan Ali Khaire, a member of the National Salvation Forum — a coalition of opposition figures — called for peaceful demonstrations in the Mogadishu on October 9.
The protest is against the government’s decision to evict squatters who have settled on public land in the capital since the collapse of the central government in 1991.
