Kenya’s ruling coalition achieved a sweeping victory in Thursday’s mini elections, handing President William Ruto a political respite after a wave of social unrest in the country left his administration looking shaky ahead of the 2027 elections.
The loose coalition, hurriedly cobbled up with the inclusion of major opposition parties in the President’s so-called Broad-Based Government following the 2024 Gen Z protests, won all the seven parliamentary seats in the by-elections.
