The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda have extended the peace agreement to include issues relating to refugees from both countries residing in each other’s territory, a signal that the repatriation of war victims will form part of a long-term solution.

The agreement signed in Washington on June 27, stipulates that “Congolese refugees must be repatriated and resettled in the DRC, and Rwandan refugees must be repatriated and resettled in Rwanda.”
