Peace monitors in South Sudan are urging the African Union to press authorities in Juba to revert to the original 2018 peace agreement, warning the country is sliding towards renewed war.
The alarm follows reports that nearly 60 percent of the country has experienced clashes over the past three months, largely between the army and local militias. Peace monitors say six of South Sudan’s 10 states have been affected.
