Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday announced the arrest of several local election officials for alleged fraud in the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries ahead of the 2026 general elections.
In a statement from the State House, President Museveni condemned the officials for altering results, bribery, and interfering with voter registers. He described these actions as criminal and a distortion of Uganda’s electoral process.
