Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga is, in some political quarters, seen as the guarantor of President William Ruto’s administration after his support helped defuse the Gen Z protests that shook the country in June last year.
Since then, Odinga’s influence within the administration has grown, with the President handing several key public service appointments in his so-called Broad-Based Government to individuals affiliated with the former premier’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
