President William Ruto has accused Members of Parliament of extortion and bribery. He claimed that MPs routinely accept or demand millions in order to pass favourable legislation or write favourable reports.

This is not news, Mr President, Kenyans already knew that. We knew of brown envelopes changing hands in bathrooms within the “august” House. We knew of false mileage claims. We knew of members’ globe-trotting, often accompanying the president, in order to pile up per diems.
