How US buoyed Tshisekedi in third term quest as law faces changes

Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi was once reluctant to discuss third-term politics, which is currently illegal under the law. But on Wednesday this week, it became apparent that he was always entertaining the idea, which means tinkering with the constitution.
This week, President Tshisekedi spoke bluntly before Congolese and international media, discussing the possibility of a third presidential term. He also defended the idea of revisiting the Constitution, while insisting that any eventual reform would have to be approved by the people through a referendum.
