The European Union said on Monday it was suspending defence consultations with Rwanda, potentially halting future cooperation in the fight against insurgencies on the African continent.

The move is part of a chain of pressure by the European Union and much of the West on Rwanda, which is accused of supporting the M23 rebellion in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
