Burundi’s Constitutional Court has validated the ruling party’s landslide electoral win in the legislative and local council elections held on June 5, terming the claims of irregularities by the opposition moot and lacking legal basis.
Constitutional Court president Valentin Bagorikunda said the results announced by the National Independent Electoral Commission (Ceni) on June 10-11 giving the ruling National Council for the Defence of Democracy (CNDD-FDD) party all the seats were valid, as the opposition did not provide any proof of foul play.
