African leaders take back Congo peace talks as violence spirals

The Democratic Republic of Congo’s fragile peace process is entering a new phase, as Kinshasa turns to African leaders to reinforce the Washington-brokered deal with Rwanda.

With regional leaders stepping forward after a time of external mediation, the spotlight is shifting back to Africa’s own capacity to resolve one of the continent’s most protracted conflicts.
