When the Kenyan drama series Kash Money premiered on Netflix last year, some film critics hailed it as one of the edgiest television productions Kenya had seen in recent years.
Driven by dialogue liberally seasoned with F-bombs and kinky scenes, the TV drama was almost guaranteed to unsettle viewers of a more conservative disposition. Others, however, felt it did not quite match the success of Single Kiasi, Showmax’s most-watched drama series of 2024, before the over-the-top streaming platform shut down its Kenyan operations.
