Ethiopian Airlines (ET) has ordered six new Airbus A350-900 planes and 11 Boeing 737-8 planes as it seeks to expand its route network while cutting carbon emissions.

The orders will increase the Ethiopian flag carrier’s fleet to 163 aircraft, cementing its place as Africa’s largest carrier by fleet size, while also significantly reducing the average age of its fleet.
