Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda’s exports to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) surpassed $2.9 billion in the 33 months ending September 2024, despite the fragile security situation in Ituri and the North and South Kivu provinces since 2022.
An analysis of trade data from the Bank of Uganda (BoU), Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), and the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda confirms this export growth. Uganda, which shares a 950km border with the DRC, holds the largest market share, followed closely by Rwanda and Kenya.
