A case filed this week in the United Kingdom High Court has opened a new legal front against the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (Eacop) after four Ugandan farmers claimed the project has affected them.
Court filings show that London-based human rights and environmental law firm, Leigh Day, is providing legal representation for the farmers, while global advocacy network Avaaz is supporting the crowdfunded lawsuit against Eacop Ltd. The litigants claim that they were affected by project’s development.
